My name is Niki Young and I’m the owner of Studio Nature of Things. In my small Amsterdam based studio I make botanical art.
Since I was young I have always had a passion for nature; collecting leaves and shells, taking pictures of stones and drying flowers in my notebooks.
Besides my passion for nature I have an adoration for art, photography and interior design. In my spare time I take every opportunity to visit a museum, create collages or go for a walk with my camera and notebook.
For a long time I have been searching to find my own creative style. Recently some events in my personal life forced me to take a step back from my office work. Walking in the green parts of Amsterdam and visiting my mothers garden house I found myself drawn to nature more than ever. Inspired by the beauty of nature, I started to dry flowers and plants again. From that moment on things began to fall into place and I started to follow my creative instinct and inspiration.
I collect and dry flowers & plants. With the pressed results I design unique, botanical art works. I photograph my designs and use them to make varied products.
In my work I try to create something lasting from something that is brittle and ephemeral. Being able to make art and being involved in the proces of making a product gives me immense joy. In 2022 my dream finally came through: I started my own shop: STUDIO NATURE OF THINGS. Everyday I feel grateful to be able to do something I love.
